American Tommy Gainey birdied two of his final three holes for a second-round 67 in the 50th edition of the Trophée Hassan II in Morocco and will take a one-shot lead into Saturday’s final round of the 54-hole event.

Here’s the prize money breakdown for each golfer at the 2026 Trophée Hassan II

The 50-year-old birdied two of his final three holes on Friday to edge ahead of South Africa’s Darren Fichardt and Australia’s Scott Hend, who share second place at 11-under.

Gainey, seeking his second PGA TOUR Champions title following victory at the 2025 Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS, is leading after 36 holes for the first time in his Champions Tour career. He entered the week ranked No. 11 in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, highlighted by three top-10 finishes this season, including a tie for third at the Cologuard Classic.

A win on Saturday would make Gainey the fourth player to record victories in both 2025 and 2026 and the first American to win the Trophée Hassan II since Erik Compton in 2005.

Fichardt produced the round of the day with a tournament-record 65 in the Champions Tour era, featuring seven birdies and an eagle at the par-5 12th. The South African is chasing his first PGA TOUR Champions victory and looking to become the first South African winner of the event since Ernie Els in 2008.

Overnight leader Hend recovered from a triple-bogey at the opening hole to shoot a four-under 69 and remain firmly in contention heading into Saturday’s decisive final round.
