The Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic hasn’t gone to script for Cheyenne Woods but there was some sweet relief early in her final round on Friday.

With a sweetly struck six iron from 169 yards on the par-3 second hole at The Faldo, the Pro-Am’s drawcard invitee produced the first ace of the new-look Ladies European Tour event.

It was a bright spot in an otherwise challenging week at Emirates Golf Club for the niece of you know who. Rounds of 77-76 saw Woods start her final round at  +9, 18 shots adrift of co-leaders Esther Henseleit and Nuria Iturrios and third to last among the 56 professionals.

The hole-in-one saw Woods improve to -7 with 16 holes to keep the improved momentum going. Sadly her perfect shot didn’t come on either of the Faldo’s 8th or 17th holes where a watch from the title sponsor and a new two-door BMW sportscar are still up for grabs.

Henseleit (Germany) and Iturrios (Spain) begin their final rounds in the company of third-placed Olivia Cowan (Germany) at 2.25pm.
