Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club played host to the 16th Men’s Open Golf Championship on the past weekend of 25th & 26th November.

The event was fantastically supported with just shy of eighty golfers featuring some of the best golfers from across the UAE, with a mixture of young guns bidding to put their mark on the event and the seasoned master craftsmen of the game.

Day one, on Saturday, saw Adrian Larsson come hot out of the blocks and post an impressive score of one under par, 71. Adrian was the only score under par on the opening day however he was closely followed by Hoshi Yadaz on level par and James Baxter on a score of plus one 73.

Overnight leader Larsson unfortunately fell away in the challenging conditions in round two and it was Centurion member James Baxter who produced the best golf of the day.

After playing some very solid golf all weekend he held his nerve on Sunday to post an impressive one under par 71 to post a total of level par 144.

Baxter found himself at the top of leaderboard on Sunday evening and was delighted to be crowned Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club’s 16th Open Champion.

Trump International Dubai member Yadaz had to settle for second spot having pushed Baxter close throughout Sunday, however he fell just two shots short. Third place went to Jumeirah Golf Estates member Lukas Astrom who posted a very solid 73 in the final day to move up the leaderboard.

Larsson did not go home empty handed. His heroics on day one earned him the prize for day one’s best score. While the day two best score went to Sharjah’s own member Cian Hart who just lost out on third place overall via countback after his 73.

The net division went the way of Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) member Rashed Al Emadi with a net five under 66. Runner up went to EGFs Nicolas Ferdonnet who posted a score of level par for the two rounds. Third place went to The Els Club member Victor Larsson who posted a solid score of one over par for the two days work.

Picking up the best day one net score was EGF member Fredrick Engelhardt with a score of 69, as the day two best score went to The Els Club member Blake Sutherland with his one under par 71.
