LIV Golf announced support for the Zahra Association, a charitable organisation dedicated to empowering people affected by breast cancer and striving for a cancer-free society, as part of its LIV to Give programme at the LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah this weekend.

Players donned pink ribbons in honour of the fight against breast cancer while special events took place throughout the course at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, site of LIV Golf’s Middle East debut. In coordination with the Pink Lemon movement for October’s breast cancer awareness month, nearly 500 cancer survivors participated in a 1.5 km walk on Friday from the clubhouse to the 16th hole overlooking the Red Sea and also formed a human pink ribbon on the driving range, recreating the symbol that expresses awareness and support around breast cancer.

Lebanese singer Elissa, a cancer survivor, made a special appearance on Saturday to welcome the crowds of supporters attending the cancer awareness event. Following the conclusion of the second round, the star participated in a meet-and-greet and Q&A session at the course to highlight the important work being done to combat the disease.

“You need to test as regularly as you can, even if you are feeling healthy, because knowing early can help in the treatment,” Elissa said. “To every woman out there, if you love your children and love your family, please get yourself tested early.”

Atul Khosla, President and COO of LIV Golf, added: “LIV Golf is proud to join together with the Zahra Association, its Pink Lemon movement, and local community members to support a cause that affects all of us,” said. “Through LIV to Give, our efforts are raising awareness and financial support to fight breast cancer, encouraging healthy lifestyles with partners like Roshn, and supporting youth development through golf — all actions to make a positive impact on local children and families.”

Throughout the week, LIV Golf’s donations and charitable work spanned a variety of initiatives that make a difference in local communities. In collaboration with Roshn, the tournament’s presenting partner, LIV to Give supported the KAYL Association for Combating Obesity through Roshn’s social responsibility programme, Yuhyeek. Players Bryson DeChambeau, Anirban Lahiri and Marc Leishman participated in the LIV to Give chipping challenge, set up by the 16th hole at the course, with proceeds benefitting the charity.

In lead-up to the tournament on Wednesday, LIV Golf also hosted a special golf clinic for schoolchildren from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, introducing the fundamentals of the game to local youth. The clinic aligned with LIV To Give’s focus on uplifting the next generation of leaders through the sport.

All initiatives were part of LIV to Give, LIV Golf’s impact platform announced in June with a $100 million commitment to support a broad range of initiatives targeting education, sustainability, golf development and programmes that enhance the wellbeing of communities around the world.

LIV Golf gives to local charities in New Jersey following third event at Bedminster

Keeping up the good work through its ‘LIV to Give’ programme’, LIV Golf has announced its support for local community-based organisations in Somerset County, New Jersey, and the surrounding regions following the staging of the third Invitational Series event at Trump National Bedminster.

This is the third consecutive LIV Golf charitable giving commitment made through the ‘LIV to Give’, following donations of more than $1 million each to the needy in Hertfordshire and Oregon after the first two competitions.

LIV to Give announced in June a pledge of more than $100 million in total to support programmes in the LIV Golf communities, centred on education, environmental sustainability, golf development, and the well-being of communities now and in the future.

“We are proud to continue our support of non-profit organizations in our tournament host communities,” said Atul Khosla, President and Chief Operating Officer of LIV Golf. “Partnering with local charities and community leaders is a key part of LIV Golf’s mission to make sustainable investments in the regions we play in, all while growing the game of golf.”

Two charitable recipients in New Jersey are Adaptive Golfers and the Val Skinner Foundation, organisations committed to protecting the future through health and wellness education, youth development, and establishing equal playing fields.

Adaptive Golfers supports the needs of athletes with physical, cognitive, sensory, health, and age-related challenges who play the game of golf. The non-profit uses online and in-person resource clinics and training programmes to make the therapeutic and rehabilitative benefits of playing golf more accessible to players of all abilities. LIV Golf’s donation will support the purchase of an accessible RV that will travel the country and function as a mobile intake office for clinics, presentations and an adaptive-fitting station. Additional funding will help develop an adaptive-athlete education curriculum which will be integrated into existing professional golf instruction and the health and rehabilitative industries. Adaptive Golfers anticipates this curriculum will educate more than 250 students by the fall of 2022, delivering life-changing golf clinics that allow more adaptive players to participate in the game of golf.

The Val Skinner Foundation is dedicated to eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. The Foundation focuses on early detection and STEM education programmes on cancer genetics for a younger generation, which are imperative to its mission. In partnership with Discovery Education and cancer experts from around the country, the Foundation developed DecodingCancer.org, a platform that has educated over 5.5 million students nationwide.

“We are pleased to have been selected as a recipient of LIV to Give’s support which will help us advance our mission in the fight against breast cancer through education and special programmes,” said Val Skinner, a former LPGA Tour Professional and Founder of the Val Skinner Foundation and LIFE LPGA Pros in the Fight to Eradicate Breast Cancer. “The funding will expand outreach to high school STEM students through DecodingCancer.org, which offers a full curriculum on cancer genetics and career exploration for the next generation of scientists. We owe it to every woman who has lost their battle to stay the course, and this meaningful donation represents our shared commitment to a better future.”

LIV Golf announces £1 million to benefit local communities in the UK ahead of inaugural event at Centurion Club

Ahead of the big tee-off at the inaugural LIV Golf invitational Series in the UK, LIV Golf Investments has announced a contribution of £1 million in initial funding to support non-profit organisations serving under-represented communities across the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire counties.

The first-ever LIV Golf Invitational begins on Thursday at Centurion Club in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

This effort is part of ‘LIV to Give’, the organisation’s recently announced global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform designed to support social and environmental efforts globally and in each of the series’ host communities. LIV Golf has pledged $100 million to support a broad range of initiatives targeting education, environmental sustainability, golf development programmes, and the well-being of communities in the short and long term.

“Given the powerful platform that the game of golf provides to promote social change beyond the field, we are thrilled to donate these funds and make a substantial impact in the local community via our LIV to Give platform,” said Atul Khosla, Chief Operating Officer of LIV Golf Investments. “We are grateful for the opportunity to fund organisations that share our goals for the sustainable development of society.”

To ensure the appropriate use of funds, each beneficiary will work alongside LIV Golf and the Local Volunteer Advisory Committee to deliver on LIV to Give focus areas including growing the game of golf, environmental sustainability, and charitable programmes that support under-represented communities.

“I am pleased to support this effort to ensure we can help as many local people as possible across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire through this very generous charitable donation,” said Mike Penning MP. “I’m particularly supportive of LIV Golf’s determination to help raise aspirations amongst young people as well as contributing to local environmental causes. It’s not often you can get involved in giving away £1 million in your local area and I’m extremely keen to see what lasting impact the money will have”.

“I am very proud that the LIV Golf Invitational Series is launching in my constituency and particularly pleased that they are showing their commitment to the local area by donating £1m to local charities focusing on young people as well as projects dedicated to the environment. This will be of huge benefit to the local community,” added Bim Afolami, local MP for Hitchin and Harpenden.

The first donation from LIV to Give will be earmarked to Growing Resilience in Teens (GRIT), a local charity focused on early intervention projects offering essential mental health services for at-risk local teenagers and young adults.

“This generous donation will make a real difference to the lives of young people who rely on GRIT for counselling, support and coaching,” said Dr Louise Randall, local GP and founder of the charity GRIT. “It will allow us to continue and expand GRIT’s core mission — to deliver life skills through sports and connected emotional support programmes to the young people in our local communities who need it most.”

LIV Golf has pledged $100 million to support a broad range of initiatives targeting education, environmental sustainability, golf development programmes and the well-being of communities in the short and long term.

LIV to Give is embedded in the organisation’s commitment to grow the game across the world and serve as a catalyst to inspire positive global change. LIV Golf will work closely with the public and private sectors, host cities, as well as international and local organisations to assist in directing contributions to those of need for the greatest local impact. “We have a vision to make golf a greater force for good around the world,” said Greg Norman, CEO and Commissioner of LIV Golf. “Our charitable efforts via LIV to Give will expand the social and environmental impact of our sport around the world and contribute to leaving a legacy in our host cities.”

CSR initiatives for London — the host city for the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series — will be announced next week.
