His four PGA Tour/Hero wins have come in Mexico (twice), Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. This guy is from Norway, by the way. We loved his answer on whether this feels like an official win:

But that’s not what we love most about Hovland. Golf writer Joy Chakravarty shared this excellent story of Hovland at Bahamas airport (below) on his way to the tournament at the beginning of the Hero week. We’re sure he won’t be flying commercial for much longer given his world ranking has climbed to No.7, but this is world-class from Hovland:

They say you make your own luck in golf and Joy Chakravarty is an extremely lucky man this week.

The well-known Dubai-based Indian golf journalist was hand-picked to produce website reports and media releases at this week’s inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) as part of the media team covering the pioneering event.

The 72-hole strokeplay championship began overnight with world No.1 Jennifer Kupcho and American compatriot Zoe Campos, just 16, sharing the lead after 68s around Champions Retreat Golf Club.

Chakravarty, who has previously covered five Masters tournaments at Augusta National and is the media manager for the regional MENA Tour, is clearly in his happy place as this tweet from just before the opening round shows.

“I’m absolutely chuffed to be a part of the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur. It’s such an honour to be asked to become a part of the team,” said Chakravarty.

“The Masters is my all-time favourite sporting event and having seen for myself how Augusta National Golf Club does things, I have no doubt that in the near future, the ANWA will become as prestigious a title in women’s golf as Masters is for men. To be able to be so closely involved with such a historic moment is very exciting indeed.”

Chakravarty was head of written content for the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) in Singapore last year. The Elite-level men’s amateur tournament is organised by Augusta National G.C. and the R&A.

He is also charged with generating ideas for various social media channels and the ANWA’s video content team.
