Collin Morikawa, citing a back injury, pulled out of the live streaming event just a few hours before the match-play tournament started.

The two-time major champ was replaced by Tony Finau in the competition pitting two-man teams comprised of one golfer and one driver. Finau will now play with Pierre Gasly, while Justin Thomas-Carlos Sainz, Rickie Fowler-Lando Norris, and Max Homa-Alex Albon make up the other three teams teeing it up at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.

According to a Netflix tweet, Morikawa will still be part of the live broadcast.

The made-for-TVStreaming event is Netflix’s first attempt at a live sporting event. And it combines stars from two of its popular docuseries, “Drive to Survive” and “Full Swing.”

Morikawa ended a two-year winless drought last month at the Zozo Championship. The 26-year-old is currently No. 13 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Lando Norris, the McLaren Formula One driver, has revealed he realised a lifelong ambition by playing a round at Augusta following the Miami Grand Prix.

The racing driver was enjoying a break between the Miami race and the Spanish GP — and managed to squeeze in a round at the famed Masters golf course in Georgia along with McLaren CEO Zak Brown.

“I think Zak got invited,” Norris told a press conference in Spain. “We just know a couple of people who are members there and very kindly they invited us to go out and play. Zak has played before, so he had a bit of an advantage on me. But as a massive golf fan, everyone dreams of going to play Augusta.

“I don’t know what I would compare it to in terms of racing, and Formula 1. You know, everyone probably wants to go and drive Monaco at some point. If you win it, then it’s the dream. So I think it’s a similar thing, that if you get to go and play Augusta, you’ll be happy enough.

“And I mean, I know a lot of people who have wanted to for years and years and years and never got to play, so I got bragging rights to say that I’ve managed to play.”

This Sunday is set to be a treat for sporting fans in the UAE, with F1 whetting the appetite, the football season finale adding the spice, before the final round of the PGA Championship at Southern Hills sees things out in style.

The action begins at 5pm (UAE time) as the Spanish Grand Prix gets going at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, where Ferrari’s home hope Carlos Sainz will be hoping to upstage title-chasing teammate Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Then we move on to a don’t-know-where-to-look English Premier League finale with a whopping 10 games playing simultaneously. Manchester City will be fighting it out for the title with Liverpool, European places will get settled and Leeds and Burnley will be battling to avoid the drop.

If that were not enough, the golf then takes centre stage as the globe’s greatest players slog it out over the final 18 holes at Southern Hills to see who will be crowned king in the second major of the 2022 season at the PGA Championship.

Some may think you sporting fans are spoilt for choice, but the timings fall so conveniently that you can watch all three sporting extravaganzas — on tarmac, pitch and green -— pretty much back to back. It would be rude not to.

Now you just need to get permission from the boss at home to get out and enjoy the show…
