On Wednesday during his practice round at the Valspar Championship, it appears one particularly young fan went out of his way to get a piece of Tiger. In this photo snapped by Golf’s Dylan Dethier, it appears a young kid somehow snuck under the ropes at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead course for his chance for some time with Tiger. We know fans will go to extreme lengths for an autograph, but we admire this young (really young) fan’s determination.

In the old days, his former caddie and de-facto bodyguard Stevie Williams would’ve karate-chopped this kid back to St. Pete.

But Tiger in 2018 is more fun-loving, having two young kids of his own, so it’s perhaps no surprise he obliged the young fan’s request.

We’re not sure whether that shirt—”Tiger, my mom wants your autograph,” is a brilliant stunt by the kid’s father, or it’s actually the mom behind this—but either way, we’re impressed.

It’s been more than three weeks since Tiger Woods posted a swing video. It’s been more than two weeks since the 14-time major champ announced he’ll make his return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge. And it’s been more than one week since his surprisingly candid conversation on Geno Auriemma’s podcast.

In other words, we were hungry for a Big Cat comeback update by the time Tuesday evening rolled around. But thankfully, we got one — even if it wasn’t directly from Woods. Instead, it came courtesy of Golf.com’s Dylan Dethier, who probed Rickie Fowler for info regarding Woods’ distance off the tee of late, and. . . better dust off your Sunday red shirts, everyone!

Asked Rickie if the rumors are true that Tiger's been hitting it by him in practice at Medalist.

He said "Oh yeah. Way by."

OK, so we might be overreacting just a tad. Despite their 13-year age difference, Woods was hitting it well past Fowler in last year’s Hero World Challenge, and Fowler could just be feeding the Tiger frenzy. Still, we’ll take any positive news regarding Woods’ recovery from a fourth back surgery in April. And Fowler’s quote is also in line with something Woods said in his chat with Auriemma.
