The Faldo course at Emirates Golf Club will shine bright for its Ladies European Tour debut in early May

After 12 editions on the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club, the Middle East’s preeminent Ladies European Tour event shifts to the club’s sister layout next month with a new Pro-Am, day-night format. The May 1-3 Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic is designed to shine a light on Dubai’s extended golf season and it’s fair to say Emirates G.C. haven’t left that remit to chance. The club’s Faldo course has become the first in the region to be illuminated by LED light technology. Etihad Energy Service Company (Etihad ESCO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of DEWA, partnered with Abacus Lighting to fully retrofit the 18-hole championship layout, replacing the Faldo’s existing metal halide solution. The new sustainable system improves the quality of light across the golf course while enhancing energy savings by 60 per cent and reducing an admirable 499.375 tons of CO2. It’s another move towards a sustainable future at Emirates G.C. which last year partnered with National Geographic as part of a ‘greener’ courses push, led by the elimination of single-use plastic water bottles.
