Garrick Higgo has split with his caddie days after showing up late to his tee time at the PGA Championship. Golfweek was the first to report the news.

Higgo was penalised two shots on Thursday at Aronimink for not being on the tee box at the proper starting time. In one video shared on ESPN, caddie Austin Gaugert can be seen yelling at Higgo to hurry up before receiving a penalty. The South African ultimately shot a one-under 69 despite receiving a penalty, but faltered on Friday to a 76 to miss the cut by one shot.

Meaning, had he been on time Thursday morning, Higgo would have reached the weekend.

Not helping matters was a few curious quotes from Higgo explaining what happened, including:

“No, I wouldn’t have been late if I knew I was running late.”

“I was obviously there on time, but late.”

“If you think about it, I was there on time, if you know what I mean.”

Gaugert was with Higgo when the pair won the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship. For this week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Higgo is returning to Nick Cavendish-Pell. The two worked together earlier in Higgo’s career.
