Tiger Woods at Sawgrass. Chrissy Handel

By Christopher Powers
Ever since he crossed the Swilcan Bridge for what may have been the final time at the Open, Tiger Woods hasn’t made many public appearances. That is, unless you count him cheering on Serena Williams at the US Open as a highlight.

Because of this, Woods has sunk to a career-low standing in the Official World Golf Ranking (1,206th, to be exact), and he’ll continue to sink until he tees it up in an official event again. At this point, no one has any idea where or when that will be.

Now, for some good news. Woods was seen over the weekend at The Hay, the famous Pebble Beach par-3 course that the 15-time major champion redesigned in 2021. Even better news? Woods produced some highlights, including him sinking this bomb on the massive putting course adjacent to the ninth green:

Not exactly “HE’S BACK!”-type stuff like it used to be, but he’s still got it with the flat stick. Here he is hitting a nice crispy wedge into the second green at The Hay, which is a replica of the par-3 seventh at Pebble:

As the tweet points out, Woods was at Pebble over the weekend for the inaugural TGR JR Invitational. The event took place over three days, featuring a field of 30 boys and 30 girls from diverse backgrounds. The opening two qualifying rounds took place at The Hay, and those who qualified got to play in the final round at The Links at Spanish Bay.

Woods, of course, was still the main attraction:

As is the case with any Tiger return, the timetable is unclear. For now, it’s good to see him walking around, clowning around and getting in some short-game practice. As he once famously said, anything else we get from the GOAT is gravy.
