The LPGA was back in the U.S. for the second time, after spending the past few weeks in Asia. It was the 15th edition of the Fortinet Founders Cup where the top field competed at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, Calif.
Hyo Joo Kim started the day with a five-shot lead but it was gone after 10 holes. She was tied with Nelly Korda. But Kim still won, despite bogeys on two of the last three holes, to collect her eighth LPGA title. She shot one-over 73 and won $450,000 from the overall $3 million purse. Korda, needing birdie on the par-5 18th hole for a playoff, only managed a par and shot 69.
Sei Young Kim and Jin Hee Im tied for third place, five shots back.
