Sana Tufail made history at the Abu Dhabi Amateur Mixed Open Championship, triumphing after a marathon eight-hole playoff.
Tufail’s lengthy ordeal against Alistair Hess lasted nearly two hours, after both players were level par after three rounds.
The showdown was one of the longest and most gripping playoffs in UAE amateur golf history, and potentially a record across the GCC.

Competing under challenging and windy conditions on Women’s International Day, Tufail carded rounds of 75, 71, and 70 at the National golf course at the Abu Dhabi Resort, she comfortably won the Ladies Gross category before prevailing in the mixed division after the gruelling playoff.
This marks Tufail’s fifth victory of the season, cementing her position at the top of the Emirates Golf Federation’s Women’s Order of Merit and adding to her dominance in UAE amateur golf.
